The Roots Of Tree Surgery In The West
This page is a general overview on the origins and practice of tree surgery. The south-west has long been appreciated for the beauty of its countryside. Not surprising then that our region should give birth to the father of British tree surgery, John Davey. Davey, born in Stawley, Somerset was famed for his grasp of agriculture and for establishing the Davey Tree Company. Today, the US based company employs 7,000 and abides to his creed, “Do it right, or not at all”.
Our tree surgeon’s in Swindon and Wiltshire are qualified and insured to ensure you receive the best possible service. Broadly defined our jobs roles typically fall under the following categories. Read on to learn which applies to you:
Lopping
Lopping involves cutting off a branch or portion of a tree or shrub. Many of our customers are passionate about nature, and their gardens. They don’t want to lose core features of their garden, but manage them. We have the expertise to ensure this operation is carried out safely and effectively.
Felling
So what if you do want to remove a tree from your back garden? While many of our customers are passionate about their garden, on occasion trees or shrubs do become unmanageable. Removing a large oak tree, for example, is a surgical task. We work from branch to branch until it’s safe to fell the oak at its base. This is a painstaking task that requires specialized knowledge and experience.
Hedge Trimming
Many of our customers, particularly the elderly, require ongoing maintenance of their garden. Perhaps most commonly we trim conifer hedges which are beyond the reach and expertise of inexperienced laborers. We offer ongoing contracts to our customers to ensure their hedge never grows beyond their reach. Contact us for more information on this service.
